Long Drive from Frederick Ends In Blue Belt Promotion

“Beard Man” Nathan Allen was promoted to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blue Belt on Wednesday night’s Combat Gold practice!
BY KEITH CEBULA – Wednesday was a special night at Crazy 88 as Nathan Allen was promoted to the rank of Blue Belt.
Nathan is the 51st blue belt to be promoted at Crazy 88. Crazy 88 has very high standards. Not only are the standards in the skill level high but also in the standards of one’s character. All of Crazy 88’s blue belts are people that the next generation can look up to. They are hard working, dedicated, and disciplined. Master Julius always asks us, “If everyone did what you did, would the school be better or worse”.
Nathan is a married man with two dogs and a full time job. He commutes about an hour to the school, stays for combat gold, commutes an hour home and gets up early the next day for work. He has done this on a pretty consistent basis for a couple of years without complaining once. He doesn’t ask that the time of the class be changed. He doesn’t only do the basic classes because they are easier. He trains hard and as often as he can.
When Nathan first came into the school he was just looking to get in shape for a job that he had applied for. Shortly thereafter he ended up turning down the job but fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu so he kept training. In his first year he lost about 55 lbs and has kept it off.
Nathan has been very dedicated and always has a positive attitude. I think everyone would agree that having more people like Nathan would be a good thing. Congratulations Nathan! You have made it to the first step along the way to black belt.
